Ligurian Village

Ligurian Village

A country wedding

The Borgo of Baiardo is a picturesque village situated 10 km from San Remo, halfway between the sea and the Ligurian Alps. Its origins are prehistoric; the first traces of habitation date back to the Mesolithic Age. An important place of worship for the Celts, it was under the rule of the Franks, and then part of the Republic of Genoa.

At the end of 1800 an earthquake caused the collapse of the roof of San Nicolò church, which resulted in the extraordinary architectural discovery of the columns of the pagan temple on which it had been built, a star of the Celtic era and the vestiges of an ancient medieval castle.

From the little piazza in front of the church you can enjoy a wonderful panorama of the Ligurian and French coasts to the south, while to the north the view sweeps over the Maritime Alps.
The church and the terrace in front of it are perfect locations to celebrate and enjoy a fabulous country wedding.
